Boadicea 2012 - Final Accounts

Jan, our Treasurer, has finalised the accounts. Thanks to the fantastic support from the entrants, our sponsors and supporters, as well as our members who did so much to make the day run so well, we have raised £2,200.

This amount will be split evenly between our two favoured charities, the Woolverstone Project who support the disabled by giving a chance of sailing opportunities and Motor Neurone Association providing support for sufferers and helping to research this distressing condition.

Presentations have been planned to pass over the monies during July.

Boadicea 2012 - A Fantastic Day!

Fine weather had been " booked" for Sunday 27th. May for our 13th BOADICEA RUN and the sun shone brightly giving everyone a cheery outlook, the start and finish this year at Rougham Airfield.

Our new investment of a party tent proved to be just what we needed to shade both "booking in" and raffle tables. A little frustration with wing nut fixings though as extremely tight. Soon however overcome with brute force by our band of keen members. With tent ready we were all eager to set up our designated tasks. Raffle prizes excelled this year with saleable goods too to bring in funds for our two chosen charities. This year especially chosen as close to members hearts were Woolverstone Project who support those disabled giving a chance of sailing opportunities and Motor Neurone Association providing support for sufferers but desperately needing to research this distressing condition.

91 cars registered with vehicles arriving at intervals, mostly from Norfolk and Suffolk but several from Essex and one from Yorkshire. A vast array of models, two thirds MG's,and the oldest a 1926 Sunbeam 25HP .

After booking in drivers and navigators enjoyed a bacon buttie and drink before heading off on Mike's excellent route. Three optional stops en route had been added as this is not a timed event and we wanted everyone to enjoy this country area at their leisure.

Upon their return entrants could collect their raffle prize and take time to have a cuppa in the 1940's tea room and take a look around the restored control tower.

Our club thorougly enjoyed the day chatting to our visitors and from the feed back we received everyone was as happy as us.

Just 51 weeks to the next one!

There are a few photos on the News page. Pictures of most of the cars are in the slideshow below. If you want to download a picture of your car double click on it, then select the "options" heading, then "download"
